I WON THE NEXT AMERICAN STAR….Ok, so i wasn’t really in the competition as a band…

Back in about April of this year I heard about this new competition called The Next American Star.  Now the only reason i heard of it was that my brothers’ band Asteria were entered into the contest and were asking their fans to vote every day for them.

Myself, Josh Knight, Jennifer (my wife) & Asteria decided to make a video to enter into the Fan Viral Video Competition.  We won.  A few weeks later a 47″ HDTV was delivered to my door.

Prior to delivery, I received a call from Stacy from The Next American Star asking me to take a picture with the TV or to make a short video to show that I liked it.  So I finally got around to making it this past weekend.  My wife shot it and I edited it down.  The final version is entitled “The Courtship of Joel’s TV” and I hope you all like it.

This is the original version of the Asteria “Hoods & Capers” parody video.  Jimbo and I filmed this in about 25 minutes and I used my editing genius to make this video in about 2 hrs total.  I exported it and took it over to the band and they LOVED it.  That is when we decided to film the one that you all have seen already.  Personally I think this one may be better, for the actual imitation of the band, as the band wasn’t sitting right next to jimbo the whole time, thereby making him a nervous bag of shit.  My favorite parts are the Seth blank stare (slightly crosseyed), i think he really captured Brandon’s shimmy/singing along parts, the Ryan dance is MUCH more exaggerated, the Sam drum face is genius & Terrence’s moves are more flamboyant than ever.

Blinkered – Someone who is blinkered is narrow minded or narrow sighted – they only see one view on a subject…

Our show is inspired by that definition.  If you want to see stubborn ass people put in normal situations and just winging it conversationally then Blinkered is what you should be watching.

I am creating Blinkered trailers for our iTunes Podcast feed in hopes of exposing a larger audience to the show.  It is finally coming into it’s own and it’s becoming easier to describe it as “The Office meets It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”
